TED FEST

Only heard about this today, but this would really be my idea of fun trip away!

TED FEST ’08 FEB 25th – MAR 2nd

“For 2008 we’ve got two Ted Fests on the go. Ted Fest Kilfenora brings everyone together in the heart of ‘Ted Country’. Graham and Arthur will be participating in a special evening honouring them ten years on from the series wrap. And thats about as serious as we’ll get! Ted Fest Inis Mor is back again. There are a few more tickets than last year and the entertainment has been extended with the hotel and hall both serving as venues. We’ve sold combined tickets to those brave souls who fancy making a week of it at the two places. We have people travelling from as far afield as Canada and Japan.

There will be events throughout that week including the final of The Toilet D**k award for New Irish Comedy on February 27th in Galway. February 28th sees the 10 year anniversary of Dermot Morgan’s death and we’ll mark that with a black and white, Priests and Nuns Ball in aid of Croi, in Galway.”

Aer Arann have cheap flights there seemingly. Should be great!

Irish blogger Joe has instructions on his page of how he designed his impressive Dr. Octavious costume from SpiderMan (below). It just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune to look incredible at a fancy dress party!

Continuing our postings on make your own costumes and my extreme love of the Tread Banger blog, here’s a great video on learning to make robes for costumes, be it a monk costume, star wars costume (jedi knight costume), grim reaper costume and warlock costumes.

Dressing up doesn’t have to be expensive but it can’t but being lots of fun.

Why are costumes cheaper in America?

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

If you’ve surfed the web much for costumes you’ve probably come across and noticed two things:

1. Costumes look a lot cheaper in the US.

2. Costume companies in the US will rarely ship to Ireland / Europe.

So why do the costumes seem so cheap?

  • Well for starts, most US companies add the taxes on after you go to check out, we include 21% tax in our price.
  • In the US with its huge population halloween is big business and therefore many of the big costume companies are based there.
  • Internet sales in the USA are often “final” – which means they do not accept returns. And even if they did, sending it back may cost more than the amount to be refunded. In comparison we offer a money back gaurantee on all purchases, because we stand over the products we sell.
  • If you were to order costumes in from America you would be charged import duties when delivered, this can come as a bit of a shock to customers who had assumed they already paid the total cost of the costume.
  • Costume delivery from USA to Ireland and Europe is really expensive.
  • In total the price of a costume with import duties, VAT and delivery can cost up to 4 times the list price!

So are you getting value for money buying from US? We believe so. For our Irish customers, you can’t get faster delivery and delievery can costs over 2/3 times the amont we charge if you order from the UK or further afield.
