When this “naughty, authentic” best seller was published in 1967, stewardesses were renowned as the good-time girls of the skies. Women wanted to be them, men wanted to have them – and plenty did, according to the authors, Trudy Baker and Rachel Jones.

Air Hostess’ have toped the fantasy list for many for decades since. Which in many ways can be what getting dressed up is all about.

So the question has to be who would you rather share a drink with??

This Morning the teaser trailers for the new terminator movie – Terminator Salvation – the future begins, we released. Its not out till May 2009 but already there is huge hype and the film looks fantastic.

One of the biggest films of 2009? I think possibly so.

One of my highlights at Oxygen this year was definately the Prodigy. So much i decided to go all out on the Sunday and arrive back in my Replica of Keith’s Jacket. Well there has to be some benifits working in a costume shop and so far this has been the best one.

I Picked up a 1920’s Blazer from our warehouse on the way back down for Sunday’s Session, which just happens to be the exact same as what Keith wore, then for the Authentic look i had Sarah get out some poster paint to add the slogan which Keith had on his (from where i was standing it looked painted on also).

 

Then on to Oxegen where everyone who was at the Prodigy the night before recognised the Jacket. Some bloke even offer me 350 quid for it, but i had to tell him it wasnt the real deal.  

 

The Jacket turned out even better than i’d hoped and because of it im into more than a fair few strangers photos and met some really cool people, a few of whom i’ll definately be keeping intouch with.

Hmm… Now time to start scheming for Electric Picnic.

Ok so the title is a bit over jealous and lets face it considering the source totally bias; but one of my pet hates from the last several years of big festivles and i’d be surprised if there’s anyone going to Oxegen 2008 that can honestly say this isnt something that concerns them. When you loose your friends its a long drawn out pain in the ass to try and find them. Sometimes spanning several hours and some of your favourite acts.

 

Ofcourse you all agree to meet up at a certain location if you get lost, but lets face it theres always going to be that half hour (or four hours – depending whos on at the time) that you might be left on your own, unsure if you should wait at the meeting point or chance seeing your favourite band and hope you find the “others” later. Its got the potential to make or break what could be the best day / weekend of your life.

 

So whats the solution? Well here’s our strategy – all the staff here are going as super hero’s! When we loose someone (from experience its when not if!), to find them is made a lot easier if you just ask someone every 30 meters or so, hey have you seen wonder woman etc??? Its a sight there probably going to remember.

So when you come across some super hero’s this weekend at oxegen made sure to say hi!

Congratulations. In the grand tradition of your father, your father’s father and his father before him, you’re planning a stag party.  Don’t be too quick to dismiss this honor!! Like helping your friends move, it’s a sacred bond between men that is simply taken too lightly.  You have a great responsibility. You must ensure that an entire lifetime of debauchery is packed into one night and it must be done with the maximum amount of humiliation.   Be proud – although it may weigh heavily on your shoulders now, an excellent stag night will be a badge of honor later on.

 

 

 

Is anything really inappropriate when planning your best friends stag?? Are there really any lines that can be crossed?  This is dependent on the groom.  No one knows him and his tolerance for gluttony/lust like you do; therefore the evening’s events rely on your good taste.  There are a few common sense dos and don’ts however…

 

DO:  Ensure that the groom gets good n’ loaded. There’s nothing worse than running out of drink half way through the night.

 

DON’T: Force drinks on the poor soul until he’s having his stomach pumped at your local emergency room. Fun is one thing but alcohol poisoning creates a lack of memories that can last a lifetime.

 

DO: Be sure that there are enough supplies available if you are planning a house party/poker night.  If you run out half way through the evening, make sure you send someone out to fetch more. This doesn’t mean the groom…pick the one that’s bringing the room down the most and send him – to the furthest shop possible.

 

DON’T: Decide to experiment with foods, mixing strong spirits etc. There’s a time and place for attempting DIY sushi – this definitely isn’t it!  

 

DO: Hire a surprisingly attractive middle-aged transvestite stripper.

 

DON’T: Hire his sister who’s secretly moon lighting as a stripper. (Save that little Jem for another Party.)

 

The key to remember throughout all of this tomfoolery is that the stag night should be a reflection of the man you’re throwing it for. As much as you’d love to have a football/beer bong/cheerleader party, that might not be his style. Try to be a big man, make a sacrifice and ensure that he gets the kind of party he deserves.

I’ve read some blogs where people are saying its a pointless, meaning less holiday that shouldnt be celebrated outside of the USA. Personally i couldnt disagree more. Granted i’m up for any excuse to party, but can you imagine cancelling St. Patricks Day everywhere except for Ireland??? No way.

So lets embrace our friends from the US and make them feel at home on their special day / weekend. If you dont have any friends from USA at the moment, why not just put on a bad american accent and tell everyone your decended from the Irish. As i said any excuse to party.
